In energy science, the man represents the great Yang element — strong, outward, active, and positive. The woman represents the small Yin element — gentle, inward, passive, and receptive. The relationship between them must be different, not identical. A man cannot live without Yin in his being — for within his strength lies weakness, and within his intensity lies softness. And a woman must carry strength within her softness, and intensity within her gentleness. They are complementary elements of life — and sameness creates imbalance in the relationship, which is exactly what happened.
Human nature was created upon the difference between the nature of a woman and the nature of a man. Allah said: “And the male is not like the female” (Quran 3:36). Complete equality between them is not wisdom — rather, it would be an injustice to both. There is no religion, system, or state that enforces absolute equality between man and woman — not even in Western countries, where many still have different leave systems for women, and certain professions remain closed to women — not because of weakness, but because of the natural disposition Allah created them with. And the Almighty does not command equality in His Holy Book — He commands justice: “Indeed, Allah commands justice” (Quran 16:90). Justice considers rights and duties according to each.
The Prophet ﷺ said: “He is not of us who imitates women among men, nor who imitates men among women.” Wearing similar clothes here erases the distinction between the body of a woman and the body of a man — causing imbalance in their relationship, which is exactly what happened to my friend and her husband. The imbalance led to problems in their relationship.
So the advice is: do not dress like your spouse — neither she like him, nor he like her.
